At Grace Bible Church we want our kids ministries to be fun, energetic, enthusiastic, and creative. But our main goal is helping children to know and trust their great God. Though we have lots of fun, we are never satisfied with that. We want spiritual growth – kids who are Christlike! But can a child really grow?
In Matthew 18, Jesus said that everyone must become like a child to enter the kingdom of God . He also described the search for one lost sheep and concluded: “So it is not the will of your Father in Heaven that one of these little ones perish.” Jesus taught that children can be saved! Our first goal for every child is that they would come to repent of their sins and trust the death of Christ for them.
The apostle Paul wrote to Timothy: “From childhood you have known the sacred writings which are able to give you the wisdom that leads to salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus” (II Tim. 3:15). Children can learn the Bible and gain biblical wisdom! Our children’s ministries focus on teaching a biblically comprehensive curriculum
Solomon wrote: “Remember also your Creator in the days of your youth” (Ecc. 12:1). Children can (must!) know God and live in the reality of God. They need taught not just the heroes in the Bible but the great God that worked through those heroes. They need to see the mighty hand of God behind the great Bible stories. In addition to memorizing verses, they need to love the God that those verses reveal. This means that at GBC we aren’t satisfied when children know Bible stories and memorize verses. We aren’t even satisfied when they learn to develop good character. Our passion is for children to know and love God. Instead of athletes, models, and movie stars, we want Him to be their hero!
2,200,000; that’s how many American families subscribe to just one of the many parenting magazines today! Parents are looking for ideas, help, insight, and encouragement.
It’s definitely helpful to have 12 ideas for getting your kids to eat more veggies or 8 health symptoms parents need to watch out for. But parents and kids need more than good ideas: they need truth. Truth tells us what is real in every area of life. We believe that truth is found in the Bible.
We’d like to invite you to bring your children to Children’s Church at GBC. We make it fun, energetic, and creative. But we also take our job very seriously: to teach children to understand the Bible and learn to know and trust God. While your kids are in Children’s Church, you can stay and hear teaching from God’s truth for yourself!
We put a strong emphasis on the family because the spiritual growth of the child is the responsibility of the parents. The family is the ultimate tool for discipleship. Our children’s ministries are not intended to replace discipleship in the home, and we never want to undermine the family. God does gift the church with leaders and teachers “for the equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ” (Eph. 4:12). To fulfill this God - ordained purpose, our church eagerly ministers to children as a supplement to the ministry of the parents.
